The biggest problem is not Hardik Pandya’s current form but the lack of viable replacement in the current squad of the IPL circuit. The Indian cricket team needs a minimum of six batters or 5 batters and 2 all rounders in the team. Ravindra Jadeja fits as a first allrounder but who is the other allrounder. The 2nd allrounder must possess hard-hitting batting skills and contribute at least 2 overs as a 6th bowler for flexibility. He should have the ability to hit sixes from ball one , change momentum and finish matches.
In this Criteria of selection Hardik Pandya fits as an impact player. Though there are other options like shivam dubey and Akshar patel but they do not have the same skills. Both players are in the t20 squad but I doubt management will take a chance of dropping Hardik pandya is declared as vice captain of the team.
It will be interesting to see how hardik plays out in the world cup because hopes are very high on the current t20 world cup squad.
